An IP camera is a video camera that is commonly used for surveillance. The letters IP stand for internet protocol. This is because IP cameras can send and receive data over the internet. IP cameras are very similar to closed-circuit television cameras, but the ability to send information over an internet is what separates them. Webcams are also able to do this, so in order to differentiate the two cameras, the term IP is usually only applied to cameras that are used for surveillance.
There are two variations for an IP camera. One of them is a centralized IP camera and the other one is a decentralized IP camera.
A centralized IP camera needs a Network Video Recorder as a means of operating, which includes recording, activating alarms, and being able to view videos. The first one came around in 1996. It was created by Axis Communications. At the time, it had a different name, which was Axis Neteye 200. This camera used an internal network as a means of operating. They later used Linux in these cameras. Moreover, third parties were encouraged to make usable software for IP cameras after Axis Communication used a low level API.
Decentralized IP cameras are the opposite of its other variant as it does not need a Network Video Recorder. This type of IP camera relies on other sources to save to such as flash drives and hard disks. Sometimes the storage device is built within the camera. Decentralized IP cameras came approximately three years after the release of the first IP centralized camera. Linux operated this camera so it did not have to rely on special software to work or manage it data.
IP cameras that are able to retrieve information from the content of a video were made in 2005, four years after the decentralized cameras. This enabled IP cameras to tell what was happening when it was currently recording. They could tell when a person walked in room, or who or what passed a certain point. Also, they were able to detect theft by checking if an was object was stolen.
IP cameras are able to have a resolution of up to 20 megapixels. After the year two thousand, IP cameras started to become available in high definition and are now usually made to include it.
In a general sense, IP cameras are different from one another. They may differ in their network support, as one network may not work with another, media management, and features that may come with the cameras.
IP cameras have many advantages. One of the advantages is that it is able to use a two way audio system, much like a phone. Another advantage is that they are able to operate on both wireless and wired networks.
IP cameras also have its disadvantages. One of the disadvantages is it costs. The price per unit is higher than a typical webcam, but the price can drop when IP cameras become in demand.

Security camera systems can help prevent crime, but they are a passive defense. They are also easily fooled. A criminal who knows the limitations of security camera will find ways around them. The simplest way is disabling the camera. Disabling the camera is not always an option. There is also another downside to disabling the camera. If a criminal disables a camera, the owner of the camera knows it is disabled. If he knows where the camera is, he can often cause the camera to focus on a different area than where he intends to commit the crime. The owner of a facility needs to incorporate more than one security measure to protect his business. One way to prevent the criminal from fooling the video feed is to make sure that the person has the highest security resolution cameras available.
When setting up a security camera system in your home you can use one camera or multiple cameras to monitor various rooms. Setting up a security camera system can be done by using a security kit that contains all of the components you need to set up and configure the system. However, before you install security cameras in your home you need to determine the proper placement.

Spying devices are miniaturized or hidden version of recording hardware that allow you to monitor or record what is going on in an area without the knowledge of those nearby. These devices are illegal to use in many cases, especially in a public area or for monitoring a conversation with somebody without their knowledge. However, they have many legal uses beyond the obvious and are definitely worth considering as a solution to many problems.
